Gain Clarity About Self-Worth And Live Abundantly

We scratched the surface of self-worth last week. Why am I coming back to this topic? Buried beneath a lot of poor choices, unhealthy decisions, psychological issues, and yes, reckless behaviors lies something called, ‘low self-worth’ or ‘poor self-worth.’

Recognize How Low Self Worth Shows Up

Again, let me clarify, taking the time to examine your story is not about vanity or narcissism, rather it is about making sure that your TOTAL HEALTH is optimal. One key factor in total health is healthy self-worth. A healthy appreciation and recognition that you are VALUABLE [worthy]. More important is understanding that your worth has nothing to do with people, places, or things. Just as you are, you are WORTHY. Low self-worth can manifest in some instances as bending over backwards to please everyone, not setting healthy boundaries in relationships, feeling guilty when you succeed, or an underlying sense of anxiety or restlessness.

When You Believe, Feel, Or Think You Are Not Worthy

It is interesting how our spiritual, emotional, and mental health keep cropping up over and over again. When you get a spiritually healthy foundation and are spiritually healthy, you notice immediately how your emotional and mental health improves. We know that mind, body, and soul are intimately linked. We also know that what happens in one area is felt in all the other areas, this is especially true when it is negative. Furthermore, ignoring or pretending it did not happen DOES NOT MAKE IT GO AWAY. In fact, it makes you uneasy, dissatisfied, unfulfilled, and results in dis-ease [diseases of mind, body, and soul].

When you have low self-worth, you don’t think you deserve better. You settle for crumbs and often ignore or deny the pain. You have a tendency to work harder than others to prove your worth, sometimes to the point of exhaustion and poor health. Your dissatisfaction comes from fear that you are not pleasing others and not doing enough. Yet, buried beneath all this is resentment that you have to work so hard, and resentment at the belief that you are not good enough. Of course, the irony of all this is that your worth has never been tied to your abilities or performances.

Healthy Self-Worth Is Important For TOTAL HEALTH

Everyone is worthy, whether you believe this or not is your choice. I have had my own struggles with self-worth. I will say at the end of the day, it really does not matter what anyone says. It matters what you tell yourself daily. You have to be convinced of your own worth before you will invest your money, energy, and time to change the circumstances. You have to believe that you are worthy simply because you are a child of God. You are worthy of all wonderful things that God has planned for you. However, you have to believe in order to achieve. If you do not believe, you block your growth and abundance. When you do not believe, you struggle daily with frustration, emptiness, anxiety, and resentment [F.E.A.R.].

Take The Time To Discover And Appreciate Your Worth

If you have to say “my worth is not dependent on my circumstances” a thousand times until you believe it, do it. If you have to say “I am worthy as a child of God” repeatedly until you feel it, say it. Each of us was created for an amazing purpose, and the only person stopping us from living that purpose fully is ourselves. We block our own growth and potential because we doubt. We never feel satisfied or fulfilled because we are unable to fully embrace and accept the gifts we have been given. Finally, we wallow in mediocrity because we don’t trust.
