Leaving Your Comfort Zone Made Easy With This

When we accept this fact, it becomes a whole lot easier to step out of our comfort zones. IF you want to be the best version of yourself, then you will have to let go of your comfort zone. Said differently, “IF you want to achieve your full potential, then you cannot stay in your comfort zone.” I know how scary stepping away from what appears comfortable may seem; however, consider this fact, “Isn’t it more scary staying in your comfort zone, never knowing how great you can be?”

Leaving The Comfort Zone Causes Panic

It’s a no brainer. We are all comfortable in our comfort zone, even when we know it is not necessarily what’s best for us. The idea of doing something different or trying something new presses all our panic buttons. No one likes discomfort. Yet, discomfort is a part of living. Growing pains by definition are painful and uncomfortable, yet they are also necessary for our growth. Who wants to be stagnant?  Who wants to never have lived their fullest potential? I do not think anyone lying on their death bed wishes they had stayed in their comfort zone. Rather, it’s more likely that they are wishing they had taken the opportunity to grow into the full potential.

I Am Uncomfortable Speaking In Front Of A Crowd

From the age of sixteen when I graduated as the valedictorian, I came to the realization that public speaking was a horrible experience. It felt like the entire audience was sitting there judging everything about me. Decades later, I would still have an aversion to speaking in front of crowds. Have I gotten over my fear completely? No! However, I started to practice speaking in front of small groups to build my confidence. Then I began to focus on the fact that I was speaking not for my benefit, but to help those in need of what I have to offer. Finally, I realized that in the end, there will always be someone who criticizes my appearance or speech. Therefore, I remind myself to accept that reality and remember, the person who needs what I have to share will receive what I have to say gratefully.

Step out of Your Comfort Zone With Confidence

It’s no longer considered a comfort zone when it restricts your growth and limits your potential. The saddest thing for me is to see someone with potential, burying it in fear. You too can step out of your comfort zone when you fully embrace these truths:

  1. Everyone has something of value to share.
  2. Your effort or work will always be uniquely you.
  3. Remember, the critics are usually those too afraid to step out of their comfort zones.
  4. Take comfort in the knowledge that they do not pay your bills.
  5. Focus on your purpose rather than your critics.
  6. If you are walking in truth, you will be empowered to achieve your goal.
