Loving someone unconditionally is messy. It is not something that you can neatly package up. Love does not go in a straight line and there are many twists and turns along the way. Of course, don’t forget the many detours that may pop up. Yet, the thing about true love is that it patiently waits for you to catch up and realize the gift that is being offered to you is the most priceless gift of all.

THE CONCEPT OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

I have always struggled with the concept of unconditional love. When I was younger, I thought everyone was honest and straight forward. If they said they loved you then they would treat you with respect, show compassion and empathy, but most importantly they would not lie and use you. Sadly, that is not the case. Thus, it is important to be discerning, because not everyone who says they love you really means it. Furthermore, challenge yourself to understand why you want to be a part of someone else’s life. Why?

LOVE WAS GIVEN FREELY TO US

Many people seek love, often without realizing it in all the wrong places. The gift of love was freely given to us, yet many of us have ignored it, rejected it, or simply are not aware of that precious gift. Instead, we find ourselves searching frantically and running after things that we hope will distract us, numb the pain, or temporarily give us a fleeting moment of gratification. Yet, love, can never be experienced through things. Love in its purest sense is known on a level that cannot be touched by the things of this world. It is an unconditional acceptance of the whole you. It is the patiently allowing the other to find their way back to self and God.

UNDERSTAND WHAT LOVE ENTAILS

Love is messy. Love hurts. Yet, when you have experienced real unconditional love, you will never settle for the fluffy and fakeness of conditional love. While love does not demand or expect, it wants you to be fully present and aware of the choices you make. It wants you to think before you act because when you love unconditionally, you want your words, thoughts, and deeds to reflect love. It is a giving of yourself without the expectation of anything in return. For you already have all that you need to live abundantly.

REMEMBER WHY WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS

This year, as we celebrate another Christmas, may you truly know and appreciate the gift of love that was so freely given to you by Jesus Christ when He willingly demonstrated His love for the Father and us by sacrificing His life on the cross at Calvary for each and everyone on us who professes that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.

How will you show up this Christmas? One of my favorite Bible passages is in the Book of Ecclesiastes, particularly the passage about there is a season for everything. May this be your season of love and transformation. May this be your season to let go so that you can embrace the bounty that God has for you. Finally, may this be your season to be fully committed to the path that God has predestined for you. Knowing that in walking this path, you will have to make peace with the reality that not everyone can walk that path with you.

To all my wonderful and faithful followers, thank you for another year. While things did not go as I wanted, I know that wherever I am, my God has not failed me or forsaken me and He will continue to work on me so that I will more clearly hear His directives. I pray that 2026 will be a brighter, healthier, and happier year for each of you. Marry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at Best You Made Possible.
