We all have moments when we feel like we have made a horrible mistake, and it seems like there is no way to change things. But remember, every setback is a setup for a comeback. As a coach dedicated to TOTAL HEALTH, our spiritual, physical, financial, and psychological health are interconnected. Here is how you can turn those feelings of regret into powerful steps forward.

GET IN SPIRITUAL ALIGNMENT

It is important to periodically reflect. More importantly we must pray often and daily for God’s guidance and strength. Begin by seeking spiritual guidance, through reading your Bible, speaking to a Christian based coach, or your pastor. Spend time in prayer and meditation, asking Jesus Christ for wisdom and the clarity to see the situation from a Christ-like perspective. Sometimes we are too close to the issue, and we need to be able to step back so that we can shift our perspective.

Ask, seek, and knock (A.S.K.) has become another favorite acronym of mine. God wants you to come to Him for everything. More importantly, we are not to lean to our own understanding because we do not know all and cannot see all. Meditate on scriptures that remind you of God’s grace and forgiveness. Remember, His plans for you are for good and not for harm (God has plans to prosper His children).

IMPROVE YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH

Moving our body is not just for physical exercise. Movement has so many other health benefits, including but not limited to mental and emotional well-being, cardiovascular fitness, and weight management. Therefore, find physical activities that you enjoy and aim to engage in them at least five times per week. While duration is important, the goal is consistency (that is where you begin to reap the rewards). Exercise releases what I like to call the “feel good chemicals,” which can help lift your mood and provide clarity. Exercise D.O.E.S. (dopamine, oxytocin, endorphins, serotonin) the body/mood good. Do not forget to properly nourish your body with nutritious foods that support your energy and well-being. Remember to eat food as close to their natural states as possible. It is also important to remember to stay adequately hydrated and to get appropriate hours of quality rest and sleep.

EXAMINE YOUR FINANCES REGULARLY

Assess your current financial situation. Have you been living way beyond your means? Pay attention to areas where you may need to adjust your spending habits. Do you have clearly defined long term goals? Then, it is imperative to create a plan that aligns with your long-term goals. Finally, consider consulting with a financial advisor to gain insights and strategies for improvement.

KNOW YOUR MENTAL FRAMEWORK AND EMOTIONAL LANDSCAPE

Learn to reframe your thoughts. First, please remember that we create our feelings by what we are believing and thinking. Ask yourself, “What meaning am I giving to the mistake I have made?” and “What pattern of thinking has gotten me to the point where I believe and think that things cannot be changed?” Challenge these limiting beliefs with truth and love and replace them with empowering biblical affirmations. Also, you are human and will occasionally behave in ways that are not conducive to your TOTAL HEALTH and quality of life. Connect with a community or a coach who can provide encouragement and accountability. “No man is an island unto himself.” The idea or belief that you must go it alone or that you can go it alone, is ludicrous.

TAKEAWAYS FOR YOUR TOTAL HEALTH

Mistakes are not the end; they are steppingstones to a more abundant life. By aligning with God’s will and focusing on TOTAL HEALTH, you can transform any situation into a catalyst for positive change. Remember you are not on this journey alone, no matter what it feels or looks like. You have the greatest power within you to achieve your spiritually aligned goals.
